Hi all,

I have a snow iMac G3 - I am unsure if it's a 2000 or late 2001 as the display is completely messed up. I have included an image of what it looks like when powered up.
I have replaced the PRAM battery, and done a PMU Reset. I have reseated the video cables as well as the RAM.

Is the only option here to buy a new logic board? Does anyone have any experience with DIYing a reflow - I have read about placing the board on an oven hot plate, perhaps someone has some experience / advice for this?

Many thanks.

I'm hardly an expert but going on past experience with these issues, it does look like the GPU has failed.

There are those who swear by the oven bake method but I wouldn't recommend it. The results are usually short lived and I dread to think of the health risks that are associated with doing this.

Personally, I'd pick up a replacement logic board or another iMac G3 and use the best parts from both machines.
