I got a imac G4 , 1.25GHz & 1 GB of ram,

Upon installing Mac OS 10.5 it was nearly completed when the system crashed and i had no choice but to shut it off holding the power switch.

Now when i turn it on it beeps 3 times (while the screen is blank) and does nothing.

Im not sure if its a bad RAM or if i need more RAM? What should i do differently before installing a new OS ?

3 beeps = bad RAM. Keep in mind that iMac G4s have RAM in two different places: a user accessible slot under the plate on the bottom and a harder to access internal slot inside. Sounds like both of these might have gone bad.

Changed Ram

I changed the RAM, tried the PMU switch, held down many option keys etc and still nothing. although prior to this problem i was installing re-installing iOS 10.5 and at around 99% i get a CPU crash screen, so right there i had no choice but to shut it off using the power button...I thought this possibly started out because i did not format the HD first.

Not trying to bring an old thread back from the dead but did you ever find a solution for this ? I am currently having this problem — i am waiting for new ram to come in the mail though.
