iMac G5 Artifacts

I have an iMac G5 Rev.C 1.9GHz 17" 2.5GB RAM X600 Pro and sometimes when i play movies or anything which uses the graphics card alot, such as my photo editing, i get artifacts

It doesnt always happen, but i was wondering if i need to worry about this and take it to my local Apple re-seller. At the moment, my GPU is: 81oC, it has only been running for nearly 2 hours, pretty cold day (16oC), room is about 20oC.

What should i do?

Mmm, first of all, that graphics card temp might or might not be technically in spec, but that's really, really hot....

Second, can you say more about artifacts? Are they artifacts in the sense that you see portions of the screen or graphic elements in the wrong place, or doubled up? Or is it staticky noise? If it's big bands of static, it could very possibly be a bad logic board... Which you should get assessed ASAP.

That discussion is about eMacs, but the issue has been seen on a variety of different Macs on and off, worst on certain infamous iBook G3 revisions, but... it happens on computers of all kinds from all manufacturers.

its like alot of pixels scatter around the screen which is very noticable on a black background but the thing is, it doesnt happen alot, so if i did go in and ask about it i cant exactly prove that it happens or show but i guess i can let them run tests on it

Yeah, I think you probably should have them take a look at it. If possible, get out a camera and take some pictures of it when it does this, too....

If it does happen again i will try and take a photo of it then take it to the apple shop
