This is probably just a stupid question, but i was wondering if was possible to use an iMac G5 as a standalone display i.e. if it was connected up to a Power Mac, PeeCee or another computer?

Theres no real need for it. Im just wondering if its do-able?

Patch^. Thnx ^_^

Short answer, no.

Longer answer, you could use a netwrking system like VNC or Timbuktu to remotely view another machine's screen, but screen performance is severely compromised.

Or you could pipe analog video into the iMac through a USB or Firewire convertor, but the image quality would be terrible.

Someone will figure out a way to in about 7-9 years when PPC G5s start to become obsolete as all of the hardware does as well. Although, by then, having a two inch thin monitor will be like ridiculously large.
