iMac G5 lines on screen

If the infamous G5 lines appear on the screen does that effect a backup in progress?

Assuming it's the video card that is causing the lines to appear in your display, it shouldn't interfere with a backup utility running.

Which model G5 do you have?

Thank for answering so quickly.

That is what I thought, but didn't want to waste time.

The G5 is a PowerMac8,2. Had the video replace once under warranty. I don't have any idea what is would cost now. May go back to an old PPC 867 MDD to use for writing, and web only.
