I know that doesnt exactly make sense. This is what is happening.

I could be doing anything in an open application, for example typing this as i am now in Safari, flick over to my open msn, or mail, as they have windows open, and then back to safari. And everything seems to be fine, but say I have iTunes running in the background ( it could be any program, running or not running) so to open the iTunes window I click on its icon in the task bar, and nothing happens. It just wont open, its still running, theres just no way to bring up the window. I cant option-tab to it, I cant open the apple symbol at the top of the screen and select it with recent items. Now any program with an open window runs just fine. Its happened four times tonight, I cant even restart the computer, i have to hold the power button down.

Any suggestions? I must point out that the DVD part of my superdrive isnt working and that will be getting replaced (when my malfunctioning Xbox 360 is returned, not having a good run with my gadgets at the moment)

If there is answers out there already, im not even sure about what to search for :(

Maybe run with Activity Monitor open and see if that shows you a hanging process (red) or something that suddenly starts using up all your CPU and/or RAM. :)

Cheers mad jew Ill give that a try.

Vouder17 I dont use Azureus.

I cant think of anything new that ive done, or that ive started to do. Lets see what the activity monitor tell me

EDIT- Well everything froze again except the open windows. Activity monitor didnt show me anything in red, or a huge increase in an application using my memory. I did manage to open my systtem preferences, and that immediately came up as red in activity monitor, and that it wasnt responding, but it still let me get to where i wanted in it. Its very confusing.

Ok well i also have an iMac G5, and i also get these semi-freezes...frickin annoying. But i always thought it was azureus; and iPhoto might also be a culprit. I really think that the problem might be that my system is just a little cluttered at the mo' but i really am not in the mood to do a full system re-install.
Well i wish you good luck. If you sort out the problem i am also interested in hearing the outcome.

Well i would of done a full system re-install, but for the fact that my iMac's superdrive wont work with DVD's, so ive got to send it back, or something, not sure what apple do, but im undere warranty. So as soon as my xbox 360 comes back Ill be phoning apple

Okay, well in the meantime, do you have plenty (8GB+) of free space on the hard drive? If you can be bothered, open a fresh user account and see whether the problems carry over. :)

Its fixed. Like magic.
I used mad jews advice, and made a new account. No problems, no freezing.
Went back to my main account. No problems, no freezing. Ive no idea why

A bit of Tiger Magic :D
