Every now and then my iMac G5 is prompted me to restart it. This happens someime during the sleep mode. While in sleep mode, I hit the space bar to wake the iMac and there is message that I need to restart the iMac. It tells me to hold down the power button for a few seconds and restart the machine. What is causing this to happen?

Usually indicative of a hardware problem or conflict. Bad memory being the most popular cause followed by bad device drivers. What types of devices do you have connected to your machine? Did you add your own memory to the machine? If so, you may want to pull that out and see if the problem persists.
Thanks for all that information! I went into /library/logs/panic.log, and found out that it is a kernal panic associated with my m-audio driver. The m-audio driver is for my m-audio firewire solo that I connect my guitar and mic to. Strange though, I have had it plugged in and working for a month now. It only started happening on March 6, 2006. Now it happens everyday, but only while in sleep mode.
