Hi there,
I recently got given a Imac g5 to try and repair for a relative, I turned it on to find that all it does is display a white screen and then after a couple of minutes the fan turns on full speed. I have tried many things to try and fix this, I tried to boot from CD/DVD by holding the C key (nothing happens). Safe mode doesn't work, the only time I got another icon to appear on screen was buy holding T on startup to get into Firmware boot but still that did nothing. So I began taking it apart after about 10mins I realised it was the hardest ********** thing to take apart, after resetting the CMOS battery, unplugging all cables etc, resetting ram nothing. Ready to put into the bin any one for any ideas ?

Thanks in advance
Jack.

When you had the back off the computer, did you check the logic board for bulging or leaking capacitors? Also, when you turn it on, does it chime, or just go straight into 'vacuum cleaner' mode with the fans screaming at you?

Which model is this? Or, at least, does it have an iSight camera, or is it one of the pre-iSight G5 iMacs?

My gut tells me its time for the bin for this machine, but there is an off-chance that this could be bad RAM or a failed hard drive. I doubt it, but it's hard to tell without more information.
