iMac gives error when booting from disc...????

so i am trying to initialize my hard drive on my G4 iMac because i got a new macbook and no longer need my iMac.

So i put in the OSX disc that came with the iMac and when i reboot and hold down the C key it restarts and then the screen goes grey with a lighter grey box in the middle reading:
"you need to restart your computer. hold down the power button for several seconds or press the restart button....(repeats in 3 different languages)"

Does anyone know what i can do to fix it? as of right now i cannot even start my computer to get the disc out.

What you have my friend is called a kernel panic. Normally that happens when you have bad RAM. Hmm.... One way of getting the disc out would be to plug in a USB mouse and hold down left-click while booting up the machine. Other than that, what do you mean by "initialize the hard disk"? If you just want to transfer files from your old iMac to the MacBook you can just target firewire disk mode it?

i already transfered all my files. i finally figured out how to get the disc out and realized i was using the old os x disc and not tiger. it worked once i put tiger in and booted from that disc. i still dont get why it was freezing with the other disc. it seems to be working fine now tho. thnx.
