Ok, so vista is coming out - that means DirectX10. I like games - and I like games that look good.

Just wanted to know if anybody thinks apple might upgrade thier iMac GPU's to be DXX compatible in the sometime future.

In the "sometime future"? Sure.

Soon? Who knows. Apple's not known for using state-of-the-art GPUs in the iMacs.

Of course, the main selling point of the iMac is not gaming, it's all-in-one simplicity.

Well, OSX doesn't use DirectX - it uses OpenGL so a DirectX 10 compliant card might not be high on their list of priorities. That being said I would imagine the GPU makers will be making every card of theirs DXX capable from now on so Apple might get a compliant card purely because there aren't any that don't support DXX.

Well I ask mainly because I don't know the history of Apple as well as some of you probably do so I don't have anything to even form a guess about it. I personally think they might just because they DID make a new release when the core duo 2's came out.

The Radeon Mobility X1600 is a fine midrange graphics card. The NVIDIA 7600 GT rounds out the higher end in the 24" iMac. Finally, the Mac Pro has the option for the ATI Radeon X1900 XT.

You're not going to see a DirectX 10/OpenGL 2.1 card until the mobility variants come out (ATI) or the low/midrange desktop options come out (NVIDIA). On a side note you might see the GMA X3000 on the Macbook and Mac mini too.
