So if anyone remembers a while back I made a post about my iMac having a hard drive issue after attempting to use boot camp assistant. Basically the computer froze up and restarted and then thought the hard drive only had a capacity of 600GB and it did not have a partition. I spoke with 3 different Apple advisors over the phone and they had me enter terminal commands trying to fix the problem but could not resolve it and told me I would have to go to a Apple Store. Well my closest Apple Store is 3 hours away from me so today was the first day I was able to make it there. So I drove there today in a snow storm and get there go to the Genius Bar and I I swear within 10 minutes after entering in a couple commands the hard drive was back to normal again. Now I'm glad the machine is fixed but I'm very frustrated because if the Apple advisor on the phone had the knowledge of the Genius Bar worker I would not have had to make this trip. Just something I wanted to rant about lol

I hear you. I've spend many frustrating hours over the years talking over the phone to Apple advisors. Unless you are lucky to get a senior member, for any problem slightly more involved than the simple straightforward issues, most of them put you on hold only to dig thru manuals, from which they then proceed to read to you, verbatim.

I am currently fortunate enough to be quite close to my local Apple Store, and have had nothing but excellent service from the genius bar there, but for those being hours away from them, I feel your pain.

Same here. We are only 4 miles from our nearest Apple Store. I can generally go there even without an appointment and just wait around until a genius can get to me. Always great service and results from them. :apple::)
