imac hard drive

Hi, just wondering if the imac G5 1.8GHz will take any SATA hard drive, or just ones by a particular make?

Also up to what speed drive can it take?

Also, can the Imac G4 1.42 GHz take a 7200 hard drive, or would it get to hot?

One more thing
Are there any USB/PCI wireless adaptors that are mac compatable?

Any help in this situation appreciated

Any 3.5" SATA drive -- although there would be an open question about heat and power requirements of the extremely large models

The Mac doesn't pose a limit on hard drive speed, 7200 RPM is standard. I would have serious reservations about putting in the hot 10,000 RPM WD Raptor drive. The SATA buss is SATA 150, there would be no benefit to a SATA II/SATA 300 drive

Again, an open question, although I don't believe the new generation of 7200 RPM drives like the Seagate Barracuda are notably hotter than the 5400's (unless you go for extra large sizes) The main issue with the iMac G4 is putting the soccerball back together properly with the correct heat sealing compound so you don't $#&&=# up the cooling system. If you don't already know what I am talking about, then take it to a technician or do some serious study before taking the thing apart.
