I am a bit concearned about my 8 month old iMac. There seems to be a slight faint hum sound coming from it. I can barely hear the hum sound but when I touch my iMac the sound gets slightly louder then when I let go the sound goes back to a quiet hum.

I've noticed that the hum sound doesn't happen the first ten minutes I have switched my iMac on after it being off for around a few hours. After ten minutes the hum sound is faintly heard whenever I touch or put pressure on the bottom corner of my iMac. Whenever I grip my hands on the screen to move it to get to the back of the screen to see the USB ports I notice I hear the hum sound especially when the screen is moving side ways from the stand.

Can anyone help? Is this normal?

A slight hum is normal, although I only hear mine if I put my ear up to it.

The type of desk can also make a huge difference. My hum was loud at first because my iMac was perched atop a somewhat hollow Ikea table top. Once I changed my desk to a solid glass tabletop, I couldn't hear a thing.
