iMac i3 Refurbs... anytime soon?

So as you can see in my sig I am stuck in the past and figured that now is as good as anytime to upgrade my Mac. How soon do you guys think the new i3 iMacs with the 5670 GPU will be available on the refurb store?

I overbought my PowerMac G5 back in it's day and it's still chugging along perfectly but I don't want to over buy again.

Why not just snag a last gen 21.5? They are $929 for the base model (actually now that I look at the refurb store they may be all out of them for the moment!)

If you really want the better graphics card, they have $1099 refurbs that contain the same video card (4670 256MB) as the new i3 base model has. Also, the refurb has a 1TB hard drive, where as the base model today only has a 500GB.

So basically, you are swapping the i3 for a Core 2 Duo with the same clock speed, but you are gaining 500GB of space AND saving $100. Not a bad deal!

Or if you want to opt for a 27" screen the $1269 refurb looks pretty good (and will probably go quick). Yeah, that costs an extra $70 over even a new base model i3, but I'd pay $70 to upgrade my screen from 21.5"(1920x1080) to 27" (2560x1440) any day of the week.

It could be a few months as said above. I believe the new macbook pros didn't hit refurb till late may or june and those came out in April. Also, I could be wrong, but I haven't seen any new mac mini refurbished models yet, and those came out June 15. So a month and a half ago.

Up here in Canada it took about 2 weeks for the 13" MacBook Pro and 15" i5 MacBook Pro (2010) to make it to the refurb store so I'm hoping this happens with the newer iMacs as well. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few new Minis as well.

Yeah I was looking at the refurbs they have now but I really do not want any Core 2 Duo, it's dead. I want the 21.5 because I really don't have any room and the GPU in the newer iMacs is a bit better than the previous offering.

I wouldn't exactly say it's dead but I would say "2006 wants its chip back".

I set-up a lot of PCs for my company and I still have users bringing in core2duo laptops (insert facepalm icon here).

Yeah I guess saying Core 2 Duo being dead is a bit much but given the fact that the iMacs just refreshed I want something newer. If it comes down to it I'll just get the base 3.2 i3 with an Educational Discount so it'd be $1499.99 but I get a free iPod Touch

I would have to agree. When I was looking for a refurb imac i5, I gave up and bought a new one in an Apple store at the end of January. (They came out mid October of 09 I believe)

The very next weekend the refurb imac i5's were in the refurb store.

Oh well.
