Needing to learn Fusion 360 as a service from Autodesk. Is the 2019 27 inch iMac i5 sufficient for this or should I purchase the 27 inch i9? I will be upgrading to a 512 SSD and probably add a ssd external drive.

This will be my first iMac purchase so I am at a loss on much of this. I have the 7s (love it) and an iPod but this is my first venture into their desktop world. Coming from Win 7 64 Pro.

thanks

i5 sufficient for a 3D modeling/design app? Yes — but will it be ideal? I'm guessing that the i9 will be the better fit.

Since you will be able to work offline and check in every couple weeks, you'll be able to take advantage of the i9.

The app is $495 a year and the processor upgrade is $500 once.

It's up to you to determine what your time is worth. None of us can do that for you.

Did you purchase already? My advice though to upgrade the SSD beforehand so you get super fast speeds from the NVMe based Apple Blade SSD compared to upgrading yourself you will be limited to SATA SSD
