Help! I can't figure out how to have my HD icon show on my desktop. It's always been there, and all of a sudden it's gone. I don't know what I did.

I've tried restarting it and it still isn't there.

Here's what I'm running:
Apple iMac, G4, 800MHz, SD RAM 1 GB, 80 GB HD, CD-RW/DVD-R superdrive, OSX 10.4.11

Yes, I tried that, and it was already checked. So I unchecked it, closed the window, and then reopened it and rechecked it, but no go. It's still gone. But thanks for trying. Any other ideas out there??

Try:
1.
Go to MacintoshHD>User>Library>Preferences. Locate this file: com.apple.finder.plist Drag that file to the Trash, then empty the Trash. Reboot your Mac and see if your Desktop looks the way it should.

2. If that doesn't work then its a trip to terminal and come back for the details step by step
