hi
i stated my imac and i left idle for a morning
i haven't stat any program
after i checked the smart and it wrote 3GB
but i have no antivirus nothing that start with my imac , no update , nothing , i left idle
my imac has 32GB of ram


i'm a windows users but now i'm a mac user , and i don't want to go back

i have disabled the sleep image, it seems it does not create a swap file
i have Not started any program , on my login i have no items

i'm not worried ,i'm just curious
what does it write ? why this eccesive write of data ?

Open activity monitory and sort by bytes written. Unless the process is gone it should show you.

Is spotlight impacting performance? I don’t notice any performance loss while indexing on my iMac. I would just leave it if so. It’s vastly less than my girlfriends laptop with Windows 10.

the cpu consume is very low, the disk write is high
haven't noticed windows 10 eccessive disk write activity

Windows absolutely has excessive disk writing, it’s done so since the 80s
Hi , maybe in the past , but i did not find it on w10 , at least ,on my friend , a brand new asus laptop ,there is a very low disk writting (i'm talking about idle) and this laptop boot in less then 1 second , amazing i know
