What is your record (in years) using an iMac as main computer?

My record is 11 years. But that was truly a stretch ;-)

My last iMac lasted me over 5 years. 3-5 years is what I typically go before I purchase again.

I not had it very long but I'm running a refurbished 2007 imac.

Does what I need and not planning on replacing anytime soon just upgrading it.

For work I usually use laptops and they last about 1-2 years then I out grow them or they die.

My 2011 iMac is still going strong with an SSD boot device and 32GB RAM. I'll be impressed if it's still working in 2022 :D

I had the Bondi blue iMac for about 3 maybe 4 years. Not the longest, but not the shortest.

Still going on a late 2009 iMac that we've had since late 2010. So 6-7 years depending on how you look at it. SSD (in the optical bay), HDD, and RAM upgrades all done myself. Love that machine. Wish it had a better GFX card and thunderbolt or USB3.

At work my iMac will be 4 early next year. Then I'll be eligible to upgrade it. It still runs great except I'd love a 5K display for my design and photography work, and I feel like I'm bumping up against the 16GB of RAM but I could upgrade that if I wanted to. Oh and it also has image retention issues. I'm hoping there are some good upgrades this spring. I might end up buying myself a new iMac at home to supplement my mid-2012 rMBP which can't run external 4K or 5K displays at 60Hz.

My friend is still using his 2009 iMac as his main machine at home.

A bit silly perhaps, but I wonder if there’s an app for this.

A (Health) app that yearly pings “Mac alive, ’njoy! Happy ... birthday.” You know, something that diagrams all Mac ages. “In 2016 approximately 1.2M iMac’s pinged 7 years. ... fatalities.” Etc.
