So I finally gave in (after less than a week!) and bought a 1Gb memory stick for my iMac (2Gb stick's tooooo expensive).

I'd heard that the std 512Mb memory was soldered in, however it looks like it's slotted (not soldered) into the slot next to the accessible slot.

Unfortunately it looks like you need to take the unit apart to get to it, not sure this is as easy as the Rev.B's - when installing their memory, has anyone else spotted whether or not the std slot is actually soldered?

When I get mine (soon!), I'll tell you!
:)

I don't think these Rev.C's are supposed to come apart like the Rev.A & B's were. Otherwise I would have taken the back off already.

If there's a chance that you can stick two matched 1Gb sticks in the new iMac's without invalidating the apple warranty, then that's got to be a bonus. The current cost of a 2Gb stick makes it near enough limited to 1.5Gb. :(
