My new iMac that was purchased in August, upgraded to leopard. Now it keeps on freezing. The mouse disappears from the screen, keyboard doesn't react. It must be restarted then it works ok again for a few hours then does the same. Any advice?

Curious.

Did it freeze when you are on Tiger?

Ive had similar issues. It wont turn off, so im forced to just push and hold the power button, and dashboard only works a third of the time. I have a imac 2.8

It should work fine. Try a full erase and reinstall, and apply all the updates (remember to back up first!). If it still crashes, it's time to get it replaced or repaired.

my first three (yes, three) 24" 2.4 iMacs all had this freezing issue nonsense until I finally had enough and said the heck with this. my local Apple store was nice enough to allow me to return the last 24" iMac for a 2.8 machine and it's been running flawlessly since day one.

sure, I had to spend an EXTRA $500 to get a reliable machine, but it was well worth it to me. hell, I probably spent well over $100 just in gas money going back and forth to the Apple store so many times exchanging the 2.4 machines.

Tried to increase the fan RPM's? I know it shouldn't be necessary in a new machine, but it seem to solve the problems for some users. Try smcFanControl, there is some RPM recommendations in the "Should it be so hot" thread.
