imac keeps rejecting discs!!

Hi out of the blue my imac has stopped accepting any disc i try to put in. It makes a few noise before ejecting it back out after 20 seconds.

I tried veryfying the disk in disk utilities and it came up with a failure on exit:

HFs volume checked

volume needs repair

i don't know if this has anything to do it with it as i am not rly that technical.

Looks like a trip to the apple store is required. It also looks like you have two problems. Your hard drive needs repair.

also usb sources arent showing up when i put them in.....except for my external hardrive which shows up?
