I have gigabit internet service with comcast. I had a tech come out last month, and showed him that I was only pulling around 600-650 Mbps on speediest sites (dslreports, xfinity speed test, etc). I hard wired my iMAC into my DOCIS 3.1 modem for these results.
Today I had a tech come out again, since I was unhappy with the speeds my iMAC is posting (xfinity says I should be around 800-900Mbps). Same speed on the iMAC. He then pulled out a raspberry pie, and did a speed test (this is an xfinity business gigabit tech) and the speed test from the modem to the raspberry pie was 980Mbps.
My question is, why is the iMAC not able to show these speeds? I now feel better that at least the speed I am getting at my house is what I am paying for, even if the iMac is reporting wrong.
Any ideas? Is the iMAC not capable of gigabit speeds? BTW running macOS Mojave 10.14.3
