imac LCD question

Guys I would appreciate your views on this:

A couple of weeks after I bought my 3.06 iMac in September, I discovered a cluster of stuck pixels and I sent it back to apple. They replaced the LCD at no cost. But just yesterday I noticed a vertical dark patch in the area where my dock usually is (I keep it on the left permanently). It's a burn-in image of the dock, the dock icons are visible when I hide the dock. Is this normal for an eight month old lcd? I plan to call apple tomorrow but have you had any similar experiences? Do you think apple will replace the LCD once again?

Not normal at all. LCDs, at least I'm under the impression, are immune to burn in. Get it replaced.
 
I have never seen an LCD w/ burn in...and I have been using them consistently since 2000. I was a very early adopter because i have poor eyes and LCD = much nicer to me than CRT.

Not saying it's not possible, but it's entirely unlikely.
 
I did have this issue with one of my previous 24" iMacs. Not sure why as it was the only one to display this behavior. It did look very much like screen burn in. I had the screen replaced for areas on the screen that were discolored and the replacement screen didn't exhibit those issues.

When I did have the burn in it would always diminish and go when presented with something fast moving.

Not sure if that helped or not to be honest!
 
thanks for all your advice guys. I investigated the matter further and the issue of image persistence is in fact acknowledged by apple - they offer some suggestions for remedy on their website.

So I moved the dock to the bottom and created a white-ish background and screen saver yesterday. Seems to work, the patches are now gone. I'll move the dock back to its original place (I prefer it on the left), but I'll be rotating its position from time to time.

Unfortunately one of the drawbacks of IPS based lcd's is that they are susceptible to image retention, the lcd version of burnin, not called that though cause there is no phospher to burn.
