I wanted to export a video in Quicktime, using my iMac (the current Alu base model, 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo). The video was a 700 MB file, and I wanted to export it to 3GP format (as an experiment, mostly). The process is fairly quick*, but using the iStat Pro widget, I see that my CPU usage is around 50%.
I thought that encoding was a processor intensive task and it would use all of the available cycles, but it never passes 55%.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong? How can I check if both cores are working?
*I upgraded from a 700MHz G4 eMac, so I find everything to be blazing fast now
