I have the M1 iMac with 4 ports. I need to connect at least two USB-A devices and it appears that only one port will connect to USB-A. Is this correct? I've tried several adaptors (USB-A to USB-C) and none will connect except the one closest to the edge. Asking if I need to get a USB hub?

Haven’t seen any restrictions on adapters. Can you replace the device’s cable with a USB-C cable? That’s what I did to connect my scanner and a printer. I also use a Satechi hub to handle other USB-A devices.

Yeah, I'm thinking something my be wrong with the drive, adaptor or cable. I had 4 USB-A drives attached via a hub. Worked fine.

I agree with skottichan. I purchased a USB-C hub with four USB-A ports and am plugging my "A" devices into the hub. It works great that way.
