iMac/Mac Pro + iPad = Perfect.

So, am I the only one who thinks that the iMac and iPad make the perfect combination?
iPad could basically replace a laptop. With that 10 hour battery life, it's almost better than a laptop.
Well, obviously you won't get most of the things that you would get on a MacBook, however, for me it's perfect.

I would do heavy work on my iMac, and once I'm done with that, just use the iPad for the rest of the fun stuff.

I always has a problem with having a desktop and a laptop. Because the music library would get all messed up, I wouldn't have the same amount of space, not the same software, movies, etc. So this is the perfect solution for me.

What do you guys think? Anyone else feel the same way?

My thoughts exactly. My girlfriend and I will use a 21" iMac as our central "hub" for music organization, photo and video editing and each have our own 32gig iPad. I'll still have my iPhone as an iPod, gps, phone, and in town/on the road computer device and she'll have her iPod touch.

It'll be a beautiful thing.

I have absolutely no need to replace the MacBook, the iPad will suffice.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The iPad would be perfect for someone with a desktop computer but not a laptop.

Actually it was my 74 year old mother (bought iMac 1 year ago) who saw iPad on TV and put 2 and 2 together. A "floating" detached screen that fronts for the iMac and gives her the freedom to access her iMac media from anywhere in the house.

She hasn't exactly told me to go "stand in line" on April 1 but it was something like that.

I have a MBP and I will also buy one to have a smaller lightweight entertainment center to "float around" the house with.

I like to read before I fall asleep and I see myself in bed with the iPad reading and listening to music. (of course I don't mean "in bed" in the biblical sense!!!!,,,besides there are no ports)

If there is a way to have the iPad be the "screen" for the Mac Mini and control the Mac Mini desktop remotely, I could see that too.

Same here. The monome forums are already talking about iPad apps as the current monome emulator for the iPhone/iPod suffers from being too small for real use. Interesting times ahead.

Personally I like the physicality of the monome and would prefer to use the iPad along side my monome for faders/knobs/transport control etc rather than replacing the monome functionality itself.

I have a Dell Desktop :X , but will get an iMac to be my central computing hub.

I have an iPhone for my iPod, Navigation, Phone, Camera/Video needs.

And I will get an iPad for my on-the-go computing needs. Having all that multi-touch screen space will be great for E-Mail, Calendars, Contacts and other organizing.

But I completely agree with the original poster. When iPad first got announced I was very skeptical. I've had my iMac for a year or so and looked at buying a MacBook/Pro/Air a few months ago for something on the run, but it's too expensive for what I'd be using it for as I've already got the iMac for the important work that needs to be done. With the iPad it's the perfect accessory. If I had a lappy already and not a desktop I'd be less inclined as I already would have that portability, but iPad suits my needs impeccably.

Can't wait to get my hands on one. Although it looks like it'll take a little longer to get to Australia...

Apple could have dropped a new iPhone at the same time and organised a dual deal with telco's for the iPhone/iPad and basically killed the mobile industry. That would have been a sight.

Currently got the UMB, but my ideal set up would be an imac + ipad. Hoping to change this when it's released.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a big increase in the amount of imac's sold post launch of the ipad.

For me it will be more like, Mac Pro+ Macbook Pro+ iPad+ iPhone 3GS=Perfection. There are lots of times where I don't see the need to carry around a $3,000 laptop plus I have always wanted a bigger screen iPhone (still wouldn't mind a 4.3" iPhone)/iPod Touch so the iPad will suit me brilliantly. I just hope that Apple will do pre-order on the iPad because I don't really want to camp out on launch day to get one.

But if someone came out with a app that I could show videos with timecode that I could stop and put markers on the video with notes, that be crazy awesome. That way I could show video's I'm working on to clients and easily take notes on changes and other stuff.

That is a hell of a Setup. 2 iMacs is enough for me. Thinking of getting a Mac Mini though to replace my XBOX 360 and PS3 for streaming videos.

hopefully the ipad is quite reasonable to note taking at uni - thats the main reasoning for me wanting to purchase it

other reasons are just for the sheer usefullness of it, apps that i can have on a large screen yet still carry around, walk around the house on msn/fb etc.. just an awsome concept.
