imac mavericks

suddenly no sound on boot up...what does that mean?--have recently had to uninstall skype a couple of times- and reinstall-- everything else seems ok--

the boot up chime is no longer chiming?? any meaning there? thank you

Could you give more detailed info about the problem?

iMac doesn't boot at all or it will turn on normally but without boot sound?

Something else?

A PRAM reset should restore your startup chime to normal.

thanks all fixed start in safe mode empty trash etc restart etc-fixed no problem thanks and sorry but i do panic i love this imac but it can be daunting trying to guess stuff....and dangerous-----
