If you wanna upgrade an intel imac from 512 MB to 2 GB on the apple store, it costs $300. The 1.83 GHz MBP cost $500 to upgrade from 512 to 2 GB?  How come?

Interesting point, perhaps Apple wish to make more on the Pro range?

Personally, I would by RAM from somewhere else.

Your fact about the pro-range is interesting. It's also $300 for 2 GB on MacMini...

I know crucial.com was selling 1GB sticks for the MBP for $150 but selling the iMac 1 GB sticks for $130... the exact same sticks...

Edit: Actually it's still going on... oh well... I got my RAM from OWC anyway.

It seems that Datamem.com has the best deals currently on Apple guaranteed RAM DIMMS.

They are listing iMac 1.8 Core Duo compatible 1GB sticks for $117.00 each.

OWC also offers great deals on 1 GB sticks from $114.99 for generic OWC to $179.99 for factory original Samsung RAM

Crucial hits the middle ground at $149.99 each for 1 GB sticks

Correct me if Im wrong, but if you're going to do something like add more RAM to your Mac, should you just replace all the RAM and use only the 3rd party manufacturer instead of having part Crucial RAM (for example) and part Apple RAM?

I don't think it matters with crucial/apple, but doesn't it delete warranty if you put in non-apple ram?
