Looking for a bit of advice from the experts here regarding a ram upgrade for my iMac C2D 20" 2.16 with 1.5 gig of ram (1gig crucial and 512 factory). I noticed that a 2gig stick is currently $139 at crucial, which seems like a steal to me. Wouldn't say that I necessary even need it (aside from movie/dvd editing, I don't use too many memory intensive apps), but it seems like at that price it would make sense to just max out my system and be done with it (and not regret it in a year or two when I need it and the price goes up).

My question is, is there any reason why someone wouldn't want to do this now? I can't imagine the price will go TOO much lower, but I don't have a ton of knowledge in this area, and definitely wouldn't know of any upcoming changes in technology, other factors, etc...

I know this has been adressed to some extent in past threads, but figured it was worth bringing up again considering the current memory prices. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm. Depends how long you're going to keep the machine for. If you were going to replace it in < 12 months I wouldnt bother. If youre going to keep it for a while, go for it.

You might not notice any real-world difference but it certainly isn't going to do any harm.
