Imac memory upgrade

hello everyone i am new to these boards. I have searched for this topic and cant find the answer. I purchased a 24" imac with 250 gb and want to upgrade it to 750 gb. How do i go about this and is it even possible? Can i bring it to an apple store or what? any info would be appreciated.

You mean you want to put in a new hard drive? Yeah, the iMac can take a 750GB SATA drive, however it's not very user-serviceable. I mean, you can do it, but only if you're really comfortable taking apart your iMac. If you're not, take it to an Apple store with a drive (you can get 'em cheap at newegg.com) and ask them how much they charge for the labor. Call around to any Apple-certified stores, too, and ask them how much it'd be.

thanks, also will they be able to transfer all my info and movies/music to the new hard drive or will i lose it all?

They could easily pop the drive into an external case and migrate everything over onto the new drive once its installed. There shouldn't be any problems. If you can, though, I'd do a backup beforehand just in case. There's little chance of anything happening to your data, but why even take that little chance?
