iMac memory upgrade

Have you checked out the reviews right on the Newegg site? :p

Crucial is a good name and you should have no issues with that RAM.

As for the higher priced RAM it is higher SPEED RAM and thus the price difference. It is faster than your mid-2007 iMac can take full advantage of and would thus be a waste of money.

You're right! Duh! How did I miss the speed difference? There is 1 review of the first link that says it works in an iMac, I just wanted more assurance, since Crucial has so many different part numbers for what looks like the same RAM.

That is what is says on the apple site, so the first should work.
 
Yeah, the Intel Macs don't seem to be nearly as picky on RAM choice as the G4/G5 Macs were. Back in those days using anything but memory that was specified for use with Macs was a recipe for disaster. Oder placed.
 
I bought 2x2GB Taiwanese SO-DIMMs sold under the name UMAX for my mid-2007 iMac here in Japan shortly after purchasing the machine. It was the cheapest available to me at the time and I have had zero issues with it. You shouldn't have any problems at all with decent quality PC2-5300 RAM of any make. Crucial is good stuff and that's about half the price of what I paid for mine a year and a half ago.
 
I bought the exact Crucial 667 ram from Newegg last week. Installed it in my late 2006 iMac and it worked great!
