Looking to max out the memory on my wife’s older iMac it’s a early 2008. I’m having a hard time finding it would anyone know the max memory and where would be the best place to order it? She only uses it for backing up her phone and pictures. Thanks in advance!

I’ve found OWC/Macsales reliable for upgrades. Their site can guide you. Or just call them. I’m looking at an upgrade for my late 2015 iMac right now.

You would need DDR2 800mhz SO-DIMM RAM for the 2008 model -- the max that iMac can use is 6gb - so 1x4gb and 1x2gb however I would suggest going 2x2gb instead.
What is your current RAM set up? And why do you want to upgrade the RAM specifically? Is the machine running slowly?

The machine is slow it only has 2gb of ram. I just updated it with a Samsung ssd and it helped it out , but I think it will work better with more ram. Does the 6400 mean anything? I found it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KHV3H6Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_US7lEb67K7V5T

Max RAM is 6GB RAM.
OWC has pretty good prices on that older RAM. That is the RAM that you linked at Amazon.
The single 4GB stick is a bit high, and a 4GB + 2GB is not worth it, IMHO, compared to doubling your RAM with 2x2 GB, to give you 4GB
