Hi,

Can anyone advise whether the CR2032 battery that is plugged into the Logic Board of an iMac Mid-2007 (2.4GHz Core 2 Duo) is a likely cause for the machine no longer powering up?

Having confirmed that the power-cable is okay and the fuse hasn't blown at all Apple have advised that the Logic Board (costing $900-$1200 USD approximately) needs replacing.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Definitely worth a try before replacing the logic board. See this link: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/762534/

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.
I can confirm that I've replaced the CR2032 with a brand-new battery and re-seated the RAM modules, swapped over their slots, tried new RAM as well without avail.

At a guess my machine is going to have to be shipped to an Apple Authorised Repair Centre. Considering it's been used about 20-times since new. Quite upset that it's died so quickly.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would suggest adding a couple hundred dollars more and buying a new machine, not worth reparing for that price in my opinion.
