Hi all,

I've bought a mid 2010 27" i3 iMac.

It works fantastically apart from the bluetooth has suddenly decided to stop finding anything. The radio appears to be on and checks out ok in the Sys Info but will just search and search and never detect devices.

I've tried with an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard, Magic Mouse (both unpaired from my previous machine) and a spare bluetooth keyboard I have which has never been used before.

Nothing will appear in Bluetooth preferences.

Steps I have tried so far:

  • PRAM and SMC reset.
  • Permission repair.
  • Update to 10.11.2
  • Bluetooth on and off.
  • Shut off wifi.
  • Unplugged all USB devices and shut down for 5 mins (Apple's advice).
  • Created a brand new user account.
  • Deleted Bluetooth PAN from Network preferences.
  • Trashed com.apple.bluetooth.plist
  • Trashed com.apple.NetworkPreferences.plist
Now I'm completely out of ideas. Any thoughts?
