iMac Mid 2010 27" Owners Questions! Fan and i3->i7 upgrade?

1. What are your idle fan speeds across your three fans? I'm wondering if my hard drive fan is broken. I've never seen it below 1250 rpm whereas the other two are usually under 1k.


2. Has anyone attempted the i3 to i7 CPU upgrade? What was your experience? Was it worth the upgrade? I've read the comments on the ifixit page but want more input!

Has the hard drive ever been replaced? That model has a heat sensor on the drive and the cable must be connected to it or the fans will be like a Jumbo moving down the strip ready to take off. If so OWC do sell a heat sensor kit to over come the problem.

Regarding fans it is still summer Down Under, 2.45pm on a hot day and my i7 CPU fans are running at 575rpm.
