My system config is a 3,4Gh i7, 32GB, 256GB Apple SSD, 1TB HHD, 6970 2GB graph.
I replaced the HDD by SSD ( for the noise mainly I want the HDD out)

The Crucial SSD drive MX500 was not selectable for install, so tried it as second drive. I could write but not read files. I used the OWC temp sensor but somehow this STA cable gives problems with the SSD. When using this new SSD externally, not a single problem.

I did find this, interesting but he just replaces the Apple SSD.

Has anyone experience with SATA and cables.
i am guessing I need to add that dual drive cable by OWC And the current SATA cable that goes to the HDD can not be used with an SSD.

Did you boot to recovery/disk utility and format the drive correctly?
I’ve used everything from the cheapest king spec Ali drive to expensive Crucial SSDs and never had a problem on any imac sata port. I only ever buy $2 cheapo SSD data/power cables and never waste money on the temp sensor racket.

Do you still have the firmware password on your iMac?
