I have an iMac G4 (lamp) that is the sole desktop in my house. It acts as a file server, essentially, and connects to the router. It's getting a bit long in the tooth. The ideal situation would be to replace it with a Mini, but use the iMac as a monitor. Is this even possible?

Short answer

No

Long answer

You'd have to been very skilled at hacking this. You'd have to go in to the base of the iMac G4, remove the CPU, GPU, Logic Board, RAM, harddrive etc(the works)......and then replace them with the Mac Mini's. While hacking the cable inside the iMac to connect to the Mac Mini, thats the tricky part

Its be very hard, and I wouldn't suggest it, unless you're highly skilled
