I have a new updated i7 iMac. it seems to have problems when a disc is inserted. it doesn't always read the disc and then I can't eject the cd either. I have to restart and then try it again and then usually it works. What's the deal?

Unless some other poster has a better idea, I'd take it to the Genius Bar. My deceased MBP had some similar issues plus crapped out a lot burning DVDs. This made giving people wedding videos a pain in the butt. Others I talked to on here said it sounded like my drive was going bad. Since I rarely used it, I just dealt with it and burned the DVDs on my dad's iMac when he got a new one.

But with yours brand new and under warranty, get it checked. Bad drives are going to make it into the market from time to time.

Since it is a fairly new machine, I wouldn't even troubleshoot it too much and just take it into your nearest Apple store.
