iMac Not Recognizing 2018 IPP 12.9

I bought an Insignia USB-C to USB cable at Best Buy. iPad charges when connected to computer, but iTunes not showing the iPad. iPad is on 12.1 and iTunes is 12.8. I searched but couldn't find a thread.

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Download the current 12.8 installer for iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
Unlock your iOS device and connect it to USB.
Reinstall iTunes from the .dmg that you've downloaded.
During the installation it should announce that a further software update is required.
Install that and iTunes should see your device.

See my post at link. It might provide the answer; it worked for me when my iMac's iTunes App did not “see” my new iPP.

This worked. I actually didn't have to reinstall iTunes. Once I plugged my IPP in for the 10th time and let it sit awhile a "need to install software update" popped up. Let it install. Took a couple mins and then my iPad appeared in iTunes. Thank you.....
