I have a 2011 27 in. 2.7 QC/2X2GB/1TB/677OM

I used it a week ago and no problems. I went to use it today, heard half of the "bong" , then nothing, no power. I'm unplugged 1 minute and unsuccessful. I used a different out, unsuccessful. I've unplug from the back of the computer and re plugged, unsuccessful .I held the power button for 30 seconds, unsuccessful. Any suggestions ?

Could be a number of things, but the PSU (power supply unit) is a likely culprit. Hopefully it’s that as they are quite cheap, and fairly easy to replace.

If you are comfortable working on it yourself, there are diagnostic lights on the logic board that can help you track down the problem. Loads of guides on the web about repairing these iMacs (iFixit etc).

[doublepost=1512327407][/doublepost]hummmmmm..... not sure I'm TOTALLY comfortable. Is there a video to show how to do ?
[doublepost=1512328242][/doublepost]It looks like in order for me to check the diagnostic lights, I need power to see the lights and right now no power...

Which confirms power supply as the main diagnosis.

Have a read of this from ifixit, particularly the 'jiggling' af the leads which fixed this user's problem:-

That should link should help you out. When my PSU died I bought one off eBay and replaced it myself. Whether you want to do that is up to you, if you’re not happy messing around with glass screens, small screws and fiddly connectors, perhaps you have a friend who is? Like I said, there’re loads of video and written guides on the web, so get Googling. Good luck! :)

SO my husband checked the power cord and its good :( I guess I'll be calling our computer guy and lugging the thing in.
