IMAC OS 10.5 to Sony HDMI TV

Hi

I am so frustrated!! I bought the mini dvi to hdmi cable for the IMAC and a cable that is HDMI to go to my sony tv.....I go to the display of my computer and it will not show me the TV at all ......I put the cable in HDMI 3 and I get no signal.....

What am I doing wrong.......it can not be rocket science....please help!!!

I have a similar setup with a MacPro but using OS 10.6 and a Sony TV. So, I am not sure whether 10.5 supports mDVI to HDMI.

Otherwise a few simple questions to make sure we are on the right track because in 10.6 it works out of he box:

1) Is your TV turned on?
2) Is the HDMI port on your TV enabled (Sony TVs have to option to disable ports)
3) Does the cable have the right HDMI specs for your TV?
4) Which iMac model do you have?
