i have an iMac that i bought last year. When i leave my iMac on, the fan comes on really loud and fast like my imac is overheating and needs to cool it down. This happens alot over the past couple of months. I was wondering if anyone knows why this keeps happening and or something is wrong with it or is it just normal behaviour.

helps pls

Which revision iMac G5 is it? Are the performance settings set to Highest?

I have an iMac G5, 2GHz PowerPc, 1.5 ram. My settings are just pretty much set to normal, nothing extreme. the fans kicks in even if i just have safari open. I had to replace my logic board a couple of months back... would that cause anything stange to happen

I've been having the same thing happen to my iMac G5, (2Ghz, 512mb RAM, Not Intel) I thought it might be something to do with the heat, but it's cooling down and my Mac fans still get pretty fast. the noise is annoying.

Eidorian - How do I check my performance settings?

Peace

You shouldn't really have to set it to reduced.

Check your air intakes and outlets and make sure they're not blocked by dust.

Hmm ok set it back to automatic : ]

Yes it seems to be very dusty. Is there anyway I can get rid of the dust safely?
