I have old PPC iMac (first model) with 160gb disk, I want to replace it with Barracuda 320gb 7200.10 16mb Sata drive.

Mac won't see that during Tiger installation or DiskWarrior. Won't se new disk at all.

I'm almost sure the 320gb for this model is OK. Apple service said: this disk must work.

But won't....

I know few issues
- Sata I Sata II, that should be no matter
- jumper 1.5gb/ 3.0 gb - I try both, no matter
- what with the temperature sensor? the screws holes are in the same position so I can replace sensor with no problems

But my old disk have some extra jumper for master-slave position, which does not have the new one... but is that any matter? is mac, one disk....

I really don't know who should I ask. Apple service will take e30 for shipping e50 for diagnose e100 for new disk and replacement....

The new one disk was tested on PC, passed....
Any help please?
Rob

From what you are telling us. You are trying to use a SATA drive inside and old PPC. As far as I know you can't install a SATA drive in it. It only will take ATA drives

If I've got the right model, and according to Mactracker, that model of G4 iMac had Ultra ATA/100 interface for the hard drive. From what you say, you're trying to install a SATA drive. Am I correct? The two different drive interface have different pin arrangements anyway, so you should have had difficulty connecting the plug.
