UPDATE: SOLVED
Ok so I formatted the Sandisk Extreme 900 again, copied all my images back over to it again and then tried an import. This time 93 raw files from the D850 took about 10 seconds to import. Brilliant!!
Yuk, another issue!
Lightroom is running fine on my new iMP except for importing. Something is clearly wrong. It takes around 30 seconds to import a single RAW file. Doesn't matter if I'm doing it from the XQD card or the desktop, it's insanely slow.
I've reinstalled Lightroom twice thinking maybe there was an issue with my migration over but nope, it's so slow I essentially can't import any photos.
I suspect this might be a Lightroom issue as I know others with the iMP are reporting fast import speeds.
EDIT: Upon further testing, if I import a single RAW it takes a second or two (D850 files) but if I try a batch of 30 or so, it's back to taking about 20 seconds per image. I've never encountered this before and it's driving me slowly insane.
EDIT 2: Scrap that, sometimes just a single RAW still takes 10-20 seconds even if done on its own. Flying out tomorrow for a week so think I'll just reinstall everything from scratch, MacOS and all, when I get back.
