Hi all,
I’ve searched endlessly and it seems I already know the answer, but I just want to be sure.
I do freelance rendering and animation, which I’ve been doing on my Mac operating system. I’ve had the same worfklow for about 6 years now and will be switching it up a bit to start using a program that relies entirely on the GPU for both creating the 3D scenes and rendering. This program is only available for Windows, and can only be used on a Mac under bootcamp (no paralle, etc)
I’ve been using Macs Fan Control for my current workflow, but now that I’ve installed bootcamp, there’s no windows version to control the fans that works with the new iMac Pro.
The developer of Macs Fan Control has tried to get the program to work, but isn’t able to get past the security of the new chips. I’ve found many other programs and they all have the same issues - either won’t install or don’t recognize any fans to control.
My question is if anyone has found a program to work or are there any in development? I ask because otherwise I’m about to shell out a couple thousand dollars to build a new windows system, just because there’s no Fan Control program that will work under bootcamp on my computers. Using this new program that relies on the GPU, I’ve been doing some testing and the CPU and GPU temps reach 100 degrees Celsius. And I can’t have that.
I’ve tried resetting the SMC and everything, to make sure my fans are actually working, and I believe they are. I just need to be able to customize how soon they kick in. I don’t care about the noise, I care about my components lasting more than a year.
Has anyone managed to get a Fan Control program to work?
Thanks in advance!
