For you iMac Pro owners. I understand the 1TB base machine comes with 2 x 500GB SSDs in it. I'm assuming they are striped together as RAID 0? How easy is it to reconfigure them to RAID 1? Do you need to reinstall OS X to do it? Also is RAID hardware or software on the iMac Pro?

Thanks

I don't think it is a RAID controller in the strictest sense. I believe the controller is performing some kind of RAID 0 style work but the OS is completely unaware of the process at any user level. There is one physical disk listed and it is exposed as 1 single 1TB volume. I would suspect that the drives can only be replaced in pairs and cannot be mixed (like RAM in the good old days). All of the "raid" work itself is likely performed on some proprietary / custom chip. "Hardware RAID" in the system profile does not list any devices on an iMAC pro and the disk utility only shows it as 1 single device.
