Hey guys,

Sorry I posted this in the other thread regarding a 2013 Mac Pro..

Will a iMac Pro run counter strike 2 as well as the basic tasks..?

I ask as I can get one for about the same price as my current m4 mm and 4k screen..so the iMac Pro seems better value as that is including the vega 64 16gb gpu.

Thanks.

iMac Pro is basically a left-behind tech to Apple. It's either too old or nearly too old for new macOS updates unless you use the OCLP hack. If it's not already "vintaged," it will be very soon.

However, since it's Intel based, you could run bootcamp on it and thus at least Windows 10 and then have access to ALL Windows games... not just any one game.

On the other hand, you could take that same M4 Mac Mini budget and buy yourself a 2025 PC from a company like Minisforum and it would be all new tech inside instead of tech 5+ years old if not older. Or take a bit more than that budget and get a NUC from someone like them with a Nvidia gaming chip to boot. Example

If gaming is your driver, while modern Macs have plenty of horses, the big games won't just come on lip service alone. If you want big gaming in 2025, go PC or PS5 or Xbox, etc. Apple verbalizes they are serious about gaming about every 6 or 7 years but money (towards it) would actually make it happen. Those other players put the money towards it and thus are much greener pastures for AAA game developers.

Another idea if you go this way, get yourself a high-quality monitor with more than one input and you can then plug both your Mac and a PC into the same monitor, flipping back & forth between them as desired. Some monitors have built-in KVM/hubs so that a keyboard, mouse, good speakers, cameras, etc can also be shared between whichever computer is in charge at the time.

For "basic tasks" use your existing Mini (or PC can do basic tasks just fine too).

CS2 hardware requirements seem pretty low so it should be able to run it pretty easily. I assume that you're going to run it under Windows though.

hey guys..

well, I received my iMac Pro today, I was surprised but it has full native support for Sequoia!

performance seems good...

out of parallels, bootcamp or crossover allow me to run counter strike the best?

Of course. Welcome to the club!

I am on the lookout for a second. Not sure what I'd do with it but I'd find something.

I purchased one that had been in an office storage all this time, a few weeks ago. It still has the plastic wrap, but none of the original accessories, and no box. With High Sierra installed.
Haven't used it yet. Mostly wanted one more iMac Pro, in case this one starts having issues.

Install Windows using Boot Camp, especially for playing games on Windows. You want maximum potential performance, right?
