iMac problems

Hi guys can any body help,I've a 2010 iMac I know it's old but it's never let me down until now,I tried to do a clean install with elcapitan and I wiped the hard drive but I cannot reinstall elcapitan it gets the point where it asked for my Apple ID and password and I can't get pass that .big mistake I did not make a time machine back up ,please help the Mac is to good to scrap .regards steve
