All you intel imac owners out there I need your help.

What type of iMac do you have and how do you like it. I'm thinking about getting an intel imac!

Much Thanks!

I have a 17" G5 iSight and a 20" iMac Intel.

I love both, beautiful machines, you should definitly consider one... and if you can afford it go for the 20", you will love it.

I like my G5 17" rev.B 2GHz :) but I wish I had a bigger screen

Oh wait, this thread is for inteliMacs only

I had a 20" Intel iMac.

It was great, quick and no problems. Beautiful too. I only sold it because of the Mac Pro.

I would highly recommend it.

I love everything about my 20" iMac. It is a great machine and seems to be the most problem free so far in Apple's new product line. I can play games on the windows side of my drive (which truthfully I rarely visit) and it works great and then run everything from Photoshop to Final Cut Pro with no problems in OS X. The screens on these are amazing and they run very quiet. You wouldn't regret buying one.

Wait one week, new iMacs should be released on September 12th with faster 64-bit processors :)

Intel iMac 20 inch, 2ghz Core Duo, 2 gigs ram, 500gb HD, 256 VRam. I love my iMac. It has been trouble free since I got it late in April. It's my first Mac. I use it mainly for internet, email, Photoshop Elements, iPhoto, iMovie, iDvd, and a few games on the Windows side.

Once Photoshop goes universal, I'll be buying the new updated version. For now I use Parallels and an old windows version of Photoshop.

I got my iMac with a wireless keyboard, and use my MS Wireless Mouse with the computer. I love how sleek and clean looking this iMac is. It's a keeper :D

Get one as soon as you can- they are fantastic.

I'm brand new to macs having ordered mine a few weeks back (then after, I read the rumours about the new updated ones...doh) Anyway, the 20" 2GHz with 2GB is a very quick machine, and to be honest, I don't think many users could complain, even if it is going to be updated next week.

Handbrake will encode to ffmpeg @ around 72fps (1500kps), so it's very fast for such a reasonably priced computer and best of all, it's near silent. I can't see there being too big a speed increase when the updates are released, and for who the iMac is aimed at, it's a fantastic product.

(If Hi-Def playback is a must, then just wang on a 23" ACD if you can afford it. Lovely jubly HD screen. The core duo will happily play back hi-def content :D So no need to get the 23" iMac which will probably cost quid a few quid...even though a 23" iMac would look pretty hardcore :D)

Availability after release

OK I'm finally looking to buy an iMac and will probably wait until after September 12th to see if anything is released by Apple. I have to get the machine before September 23rd which is when I will be starting at uni so will be buying it from their Bluewater, UK retail store.

Does anyone know what their availability is likely to be like following the release - will they be available from the date of their announcement or would I be better off buying one of the current models given that I need the computer so soon after the release?

I have the 17" G5 iMac and the 20" Intell iMac on my network. I like them both a lot. The iMac is the best desktop apple has ever released, it works amazngly well.

I'll vouch for the sturdiness of iMacs. The iMac I'm using right now has been working for 6 years with no problems of note whatsoever.

Except for that time when we left it on for a month straight and it couldn't find it's hard drive due to overheating. <_<;

But it stopped once it cooled down. I'd say that one was our fault. :p

I use a 1.83GHz 17" iMac at college (in the computer lab) and I must say that it is a fantastic machine. But now that the 24"ers are out, go for one of those! :D :)

When the new models are released the prices on the Yonah models will be reduced, probably by around 20% or so. They are still excellent (and very fast) machines, so in my opinion it would be well worth buying a Yonah model. Most university students have no use for a *really* fast machine.
