Hey friends.

I am considering buying an iMac 27" with an i5 and 5750/5850m. I am about to embark on 2 years of diploma in digital video and later on animation. The institute I will be attending primarily uses mac as it is "industry standard" where I'm from. I'd just like to ask you mac lads a few questions first :).

First of all, I'd like to know if it has the ability to output video to a second monitor? Am I understanding correctly when I assume that the display port can only be used as an input?

Aside from the obvious benefit of using Final Cut Pro and a massive screen, Are there other advantages of owning an iMac rather than a PC from an editing prospective? I am unfamiliar with osx.

Are there any compatibility issues or drawbacks when using windows bootcamp? It would be nice to sell my gaming rig.

Thanks guys ;D

the MDP is an input and output!

I do not work in the creative industry but I find the workflow soo much faster on Macs and I get alot more done on my mac than work pc.

these are no drawbacks on bootcamp, it will perfrom exactly as an i5 pc would under windows.

Mac gives you the ability to run both, OS X and Windows. What I've heard, most professionals use Macs because of Final Cut, it's amazing piece of software. There are also some other things such as Spaces and Expose that makes your work easier.
